Mobile fuel doctor service in Scotland

A fuel doctor is a mobile specialist who deals with wrong fuel and fuel contamination. If you have used the wrong pump or put a fluid into the wrong tank, we help identify the incident and arrange assistance at your vehicle.

The important part is not the name of the service but getting the right response. A petrol-and-diesel mix, an AdBlue mistake and a water-in-fuel concern have different implications. Explain the incident rather than trying to diagnose it yourself or choosing a service on the basis of an engine warning alone.

What a mobile fuel doctor needs to know

First establish the vehicle and location: registration, make and model, where it is parked and whether there is safe access. Then explain what went into which tank, how much was added and what was already there. For a work vehicle, tell us if it belongs to a hire company, employer or fleet.

The engine history matters. State whether you only filled the tank, switched on the ignition, started it, moved away from the pump or drove some distance. If there are warning messages, describe the wording. Keep any receipt, bottle or photograph that helps identify the fluid.

Assessment rather than guesswork

Running roughly after a refill can suggest a fuel problem, but similar symptoms can have other causes. A fuel doctor should start with the history and the vehicle in front of them. We do not treat every non-start as proof of misfuelling or promise that a drain will resolve every warning.

Where contamination is confirmed, the technician considers the tank, accessible fuel system and whether the vehicle has run. The plan may be a mobile drain and cleaning, or it may include additional checks and a recommendation for workshop attention. You should understand the proposed work before agreeing to it.

Fuel doctor, garage or recovery service?

A mobile fuel drain service can attend the vehicle rather than requiring you to arrange a garage visit first. That can be useful at a filling station, a workplace, a depot or home. Suitability still depends on access, site safety and the nature of the fault.

A garage may be needed where components require repair or replacement, the contamination has spread, or further diagnosis is necessary. Recovery can also be required if the vehicle is in an unsafe position. Mobile attendance should be arranged around those practical limits, not an assumption that every job is completed at the roadside.

Arranging help across Scotland

Give the actual vehicle location, not just the town you normally live in. A forecourt name, postcode, road direction or site entrance can make the difference between a straightforward visit and a delayed arrival. For an island or a restricted-access site, mention access arrangements at the outset.

Ask for availability, the likely attendance arrangements and how the price will be established. A personal car, a loaded HGV and a machine on a construction site need different information. Our service pages explain what to provide for each type of vehicle and contamination.

Attendance, access and the cost of the work

The quoted cost depends on the vehicle, quantity, access and whether contaminated fuel has circulated. Ask what the proposed work includes and whether further diagnosis or repair may be recommended.

We cover mainland Scotland and the islands. Arrival estimates are confirmed for the vehicle’s actual location and current availability. Time on site is a separate matter and depends on the work. Neither a coverage page nor an initial enquiry is a promise of a fixed completion time.

Before attendance, identify the person authorised to approve the work. The technician explains the proposed service and confirms the cost before starting. If you intend to use a policy, lease agreement or hire-company process, check its requirements with the provider.

Fuel doctor: common questions

Do I need a fuel doctor if the engine still runs?

If you know the wrong fuel or fluid was added, stop safely and arrange advice even if the vehicle appears to run normally. Normal running does not establish that the mixture is suitable.

Can a fuel doctor identify every engine fault?

No. The service focuses on misfuelling and fuel contamination. An unrelated engine or electrical fault may need a garage or another specialist.

Do you have a branch in every town?

No local branch is implied by a coverage page. This is a mobile service, with attendance arranged for the location of the vehicle.

Can a company arrange assistance for its driver?

Yes. Provide the driver’s location and contact arrangements, vehicle details and the person authorised to agree the work. Fleet, HGV and plant enquiries should include any site or operational restrictions.
