A petrol-and-diesel mix is different from AdBlue in a fuel tank, fuel in an AdBlue tank or water in a stored supply. Start with what was added and which tank received it. If contamination is only suspected, explain the refuelling history and symptoms rather than assuming a drain is the answer.
Our wrong fuel removal and fuel doctor pages explain the mobile assessment process. The petrol-in-diesel and diesel-in-petrol guides cover the two common misfuelling directions. AdBlue and water have their own guides so you can give the right information when arranging help.
Cars, vans, fleets, HGVs and plant
A commercial vehicle can require different tank capacity, access, authorisation and equipment from a car. A hired van may need approval from its operator. An HGV may have multiple tanks. Plant on a restricted site may need a site contact and permission before attendance. Use the relevant vehicle guide to prepare the enquiry.
What every enquiry should include
- Exact vehicle or machine location and safe access.
- Registration, make and model, or machine and asset details.
- The product and approximate quantity added.
- Whether the ignition, engine or fuel-fed equipment has been used.
- The person authorised to agree the work and cost.
A mobile fuel drain is assessed for the vehicle and incident. We do not promise that every fault is fuel-related or that every contaminated vehicle can be completed at the roadside. Further checks or workshop attention may be needed.
